Funding a Lightning Node
Step 2: Funding the Lightning Node
Once you've provisioned the Lightning Gateway, you'll need to fund it with some bitcoin. We'll use a Mutinynet Faucet to get some signet coins.
- On your Thunderhub Dashboard, click "Receive" then "Create Address" to generate a new address for the lightning node's onchain wallet.
- Copy the address to your clipboard.
- Go to the Mutinynet Faucet.
- Paste the address into the "Destination" field at the top and click "Make it rain" to send some signet sats to your node. (You'll need ~100,000 sats for the channels we'll set up).
You should immediately see the transaction show up as pending in your Thunderhub Dashboard, and it should confirm within a minute (Mutinynet has 30 second block times).
Now that you have some bitcoin in your onchain wallet, you can open channels to other peers and improve the liquidity of your node. We'll walk through this in the next section.
